*Sigh* I love blogging. I’ve missed it so. I’ve had so many ideas, thoughts, and bursts of blogging energy this past week, but I was so busy with guests that I had to press “Pause” on the brain. Though I haven’t been blogging the last 2 weeks, I’ve been living still. We had family staying with us for Easter and the week after, and of course, we had spring break! So I chose to be present and blog, write, and work, later. In addition to being “Present”, I couldn’t find my laptop for multiple consecutive days, therefore, the noble decision not to blog, write, or work in order to “Focus on my family” was made easy. Ha! I did some things, of course, but much less than I had been. It felt good! It was a nice little break and I was able to reflect and refocus my energy and intentions going into this next week.
So what is my first blog back about, you may ask? Well, in light of feeling good, free, and taking more time for reflection and self-care, I thought I’d share with you my personal recipe for a refreshing, NON-ALCOHOLIC drink! I make this just about every time I start a “Self-care” regimen. It’s a bit bitter, yet just sweet enough to keep on sippin’!
- 1/4 of an apple, sliced (I used a Fuji but gala or red delicious taste great too)
- 1 cup of ice (I didn’t use crushed, but that works too)
- 3/4 cup water (spring, not tap … our tap here is … questionable)
- 3/4 cup of pure cranberry juice (the intense, straight-up cranberry y’all. no added sugar or cocktail versions here!)
- 2 lemon wedges
- 1 teaspoon of sugar
TIP: I didn’t add it this time because I was out, but a clementine is soooo good added to this drink! I mean, soooo good.
*Note* Yes, that is a cat in the background of my ingredients photo. I do not take Pinterest worthy, professional looking, “My kitchen is always this clean, white, and bright” photos. Save that for the awesome food bloggers/vloggers out there. I’m all about transparency people. … And I have no idea how to take the aforementioned photos … I’ve tried. … Trust me, natural imagery is better from over here (or stock images!).
It’s pretty much as simple as “Mix, and drink!”. But I start with the ice, then add the water, then the cranberry, then the lemons and apples, and the final touch should be the sugar (the fruit really absorbs this), then one light stir and you’re good to go!
Well, there you have it. A sweet and simple recipe in a sweet and simple post from yours truly.
